China's Polyurethane Sector Advances Green Transformation

In 2024 — China’s polyurethaneindustry has reached a significant milestone as Sinochem Dongda Chemical Groupofficially inaugurated its 240,000 tons/year environmentally friendly polyetherpolyol project. Located in a key chemical park along China's eastern coast, theproject aims to respond to the national call for green development and promotesustainable growth in the polyurethane industry.

The project involves a total investment ofover 3 billion yuan and is expected to be completed and operational by the endof 2026. The main product, environmentally friendly polyether polyol, not onlyboasts excellent physical and chemical properties but also significantlyreduces environmental impact during production, aligning with the global trendtowards low-carbon and eco-friendly materials. This product will be widely usedin various sectors, including high-end automotive and high-speed rail interior decoration,waterproof materials, cable coatings, sports flooring, food-grade environmentalsealants, shoe materials, textiles, and more, offering more environmentallyfriendly and efficient solutions.

As the demand for green materials andconsumer goods grows in China and globally, Sinochem Dongda’s initiative isseen as a proactive response to market changes.
